Alderney - Guernsey, Channel Islands

Alderney is the most northerly of the Channel Islands. It is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a British Crown dependency.
In June 1940 the entire population of Alderney, about 1500 residents, was evacuated before the German army arrived. During the WW2, the Channel Islands was the only part of the British Commonwealth occupied by Germany.  The Germans built four concentration camps in Alderney.
