Paros belongs to Central Cyclades Islands and is the third largest one after Naxos and Andros islands. It has developed into one of the most popular tourist destinations of the Cyclades during the past 3 decades. Parika is the islands capital and port stands on the site of an ancient city. A broad paved orenue leads to the church of our Lady of Ekatondapiliani (of 100 doors) 6th century one of the most imkportant Byzantine monuments in the whole  of Greece. It is dedicated to the Durmition of our Lady and on her feast day (august 15th) there is a great celebration on the sea-front with fireworks and songs of the sea.
