Sfakia - Chania prefecture, South Crete.
One of its ports were used by the alliance forces during the evacuation of Crete when it fell to nazis, heading towards Egypt.

It has an abondoned military airport which the german nazis tried to occupy during WW2. It was a massacre for both germans and greeks. There is a big german cemetary for those who fall in that battle . About 4.500.
